Before reading ahead, I want you to see this video carefully and count the number of times the people in white shirts pass the ball.
Okay, so here is what I learnt today.
1. It is possible to have more than one conditional in a C Preprocessor. We are so used to using #ifdef
(which can not handle an OR or AND condition, but only a unary condition) that we forget that we have #if defined(CONDITION 1) || defined(CONDITION 2)
preprocessor functionality too.
2. Jamboree: noun; a large organized event which many people go to, or a busy, noisy occasion or period
La Tomatina is huge jamboree where people throw tomatoes on each other for having fun. It is held in the city of Buñol, Spain, on the last Wednesday of August each year. The event palo jabón which involves climbing the greasy pole for a piece of ham resembles the Indian tradition of 'Dahi-Handi sport' during Janmashtmi celebrations. Want to compare? Here:
3. The puckered skin that develops on our fingertips due to prolonged working with water or after a bath is not due to reverse osmosis. It is a natural adaptive mechanism of human body to increase the traction while in water. This effect is controlled by our nervous system and the effect no longer remains if the nerve endings on finger tips die.
4. The invisible gorrila Experiment: Did you watch the video that I asked you to watch? How many? Okay, if you've seen that you know what I am talking about. Just for the record, I counted 13 passes and saw the gorilla. But that was probably because I had read the material on the website which directed me to the link. Still. This experiment reveals two things: that we are missing a lot of what goes on around us, and that we have no idea that we are missing so much. To our surprise, it has become one of the best-known experiments in psychology. (The last two lines are taken verbatim from the source)
